Orchestral/Cinematic
Menagerie I feel this piece represents my best effort of any of my work to date. It starts out pretty slow, but it really takes off after a minute or so. I am extremely happy with the dynamic aspect of the piece, and had a ball playing all the percussion. The piece is a score for a short film called "Menagerie with a 20 piece choir. There were at least 20 tracks of overdubbed drums on the piece. Unfortunately, the film was never finished, and the director disappeared from my life, with the film forever. Rather a shame really, it was a really cool little film!
Lillian's Theme I originally wrote this piece while thinking of my wife Lillian (so those are the beautiful parts!). Later, it took on a little bit of an artistic bent, with some dissonance. Sorry Lillian, that's just the artist in me sneaking out! One of these days, I hope to put "real" cello on this piece!

DEAD JED This piece originally was the tag ending to Jed's Dead (in the acoustic column. It was part of my film "demo reel".
Lolo I wrote this piece for a Rapper named T-Bone. But apparently he either never heard it, or didn't like it... so it never got to his album.
Bhatia This was written as I remembered a composer friend named Amin Bhatia who I worked with back in the days I was with the Roland Corporation.

Acoustic
Jed's Dead This one was fun. It gave me the chance to play some of my favorite music... Bluegrass! It was used in a short film called "Dual". After doing this film, I started saying ya'll a lot! After all... I am officially a "Southerner" since I'm from "Southern California!". Originally, this piece lead into the piece called DEAD JED in the Esoterica column.
Inspirations on the 7th fret I got myself a "partial capo" for my guitar and I placed it on the 7th fret. The results were this piece. |
Spiritual
Teach Me to Love It's hard to truly love someone. I can't do it on my own. This was my plea to God to give me the ability to really love, as Christ would have loved.
More like You Christ is my hero. I want to be just like him when I grow up. That may be a very long time!
Nothing really matters, but You After making a complete mess of my life, I came to the realization that nothing really mattered in my life except for Christ. This song is directly from my heart as I came to that realization. (Drums by Kurt Bisquera and Bass by Reggie Hamilton) |

Krenek I wrote this back in the late 80's in honor of the Austrian Composer Ernst Krenek, a composer of somewhat Avant Garde orchestral music using atonality and Arnold Schoenburg's Twelve Tone Technique. Unfortunately, I'm not schooled enough to have incorporated Schoenburg's technique into this piece.
Yellow 3 Again, this was written back in the late 80's when digital samplers first arrived. There are numerous samples from the movie "Blade Runner" one of my favorite films). Of all my old stuff, this is one of my favorite pieces.
D Tele Song Named as such because I used a telecaster for much of the leads. A little rough I know, but hey it was back in the 80's, so what it is, is what it is!
80's BABY!!! I almost didn't put this one in because it sounds so freaking dated. But this is my history, so here it is!
You see art, I see Clay This was a solo effort on the "Up Another Octave Transmission". An Orange County, Ca Collection of Punk and New Wave Bands. Believe it or not, it went on to become an underground hit in New York, London, Paris and Rome without me even knowing it. I get email all the time from people all over the world asking me to send of this retro synth stuff. Unfortunately, everything I did in that era was accidentally destroyed. The weird thing is that this one of the most successful pieces of music I have ever written and I have ever written and I never saw a dime for it! In addition, I never really like the piece. It was re-released this year by a New York Radio Station album "The Found Tapes"
Skitso Attack This song I wrote for "The Videos" which was a band I formed in the early 80's also featured on the Up Another Octave Transmission. The line up included; John Crawford on bass (who later went on to form the popular band "Berlin"), John Benson on Drums (visit him by clicking on his site in my links page), Rich West on Keyboards (who also went on to play with the 80's pop band Stacy Q), Ken Dudley on guitar/backing vocals, and me on vocals and guitar.
